Hardware - ATI drivers in -> GUI gone Sephiroth - 25.06.2006, 16:13 Uhr Titel: ATI drivers in -> GUI gone
I installed the fglrx drivers and now i can't get back to the gui. Each time i type init 5 it doesn't do anything. It starts KDM, screen goes blank, then back to command line. XDM not started because it is not enabled.
Any ideas?

Hi Sephiroth
What version of Kanotix are you running ?
You can try this
apt-get remove --purge fglrx-driver
-- then --
m-a a-i fglrx

You forgot to use
update-scripts-kanotix.sh
install-fglrx-debian.sh -r

I just tried it and it didn't work. I think it installed the driver and then it tried to bring up kde but it went back to the command line.

Im afraid this didn't work either. I can see that the first line is to remove what is already there, then it will check if it has the latest driver, then it will install it again. However, after installation it tries to start the GUI, screen goes blank, then back to command line.
Do i need to update to the latest kernel or something? Im not sure which version i have right now.
