Jackiebrown is merely telling you that you don't need wxvlc. Or to answer your question, nothing. Have you tried what I suggested and install a new vlc from unstable after purging the original one? And if you want, there is a folder called .vlc in your home. You should find settings there.
Well, unless mzilikazi and you are running and old version, there is no reason to install that package.
