I just noticed that the option to unpack archives when right clicking them has vanished. And I dont seem to have any application set to associate with zip archives or rar archives anymore (in KDE), so now I use krusader to unpack them... How do i fix this small problem?

Is there an option with right click to "open with" if so choose ark and tick remember setting. You could also try control centre - kde components - file associations - applications

thx for the quick reply, after a quick glance i find that ark is not even installed anymore?? I have no idea why or when it got uninstalled but prob during some dist-upgrade. So reinstalled it, but i still miss the option in the rightclick-menu that goes "unpack here", "unpack to dir blabla.." and so on. is there a way to manually put those options back there?

If ark went missing then you may need to put the associations back as per my last post.
