When it is ready and uploaded, the ISO will bear its name.

I need a more recent 64bit edition. Besides I hope to get support for my Intel GMA 950 (Ubuntu has got both, but it is buggy as hell-only Windows Vista is worse) Auf den Arm nehmen

Agreed.
This is the first time I've been on the forums for about 3 months and the reason I read the forums is to solve problems I'm having....haven't had any; Kanotix just works. Sehr glücklich

Well, I do occasionally check for something new, but really, if Kanotix works well; anything new should have actual improvements, not just a shiny new name.

This OS is the best Linux I have used to date and I for one would hate to see shoddy and buggy code released just for the sake of having a new version. I don't for one minute think that the Kanotix team would do that anyway. I have seen some other good distros (IMHO) go down the tubes by such action.

Oh well, hope I wasn't rambling. Taking pain killers at the momet for a bad back. Geschockt

jivens,
you are completely right.
the main reason, there is now new final release for 2006-01 is, that Sid atm is not in the state to make a final. cups is in a quite desolate state and kde has its little flaws as well.
but as long as easter-preview RC4 works as well as it does, we might as well wait.

devil u r right. I can live with the version up to date (except cups and forum login) and am happy that although getting more complex the stability is fine.
So do not rush on cost of quality or availability while this might bummerang!

Good luck and success for all developpers and contributors!

My problem is that since I have had new hardware, I have felt pretty much left out by Debian and by Kanotix (of course as a consequence, as Kanotix *is* Debian).

My main issues are:

1)64bit processors are poorly supported. They have been around for years now, and as always Debian is one of the last to support new hardware.
)If I use the default Debian i810 driver for my GMA 950, I have no 3D acceleration. I had to install the Ubuntu version.
May I suggest that the next Kanotix release comes with it (i810 Ubuntu)?

Daniele, I have been running pure debbian using the amd64 branch for some time now. Just because Kano hasn't released a new version along with the i386 version does not mean that it is less.

Till the last time I tried the amd64 netinstaller it was severely broken.
Maybe I should try beta 2 (no netinstaller, only CDs)

I would. 1st full cd should be enough. You can apt-get the rest.

Problem with the net installer - wrong sources - the sources changed after it was released.

(For me it doesn't connect to the interet. (kind of kills the idea of the net installer.) Simply typing dhclient gets it running though.
