Look in the comments section of this story, "Second Discussion Draft of GPLv3 Released." (Set comments to Nested, hit Refresh, and search on "Linus".)
Short version: The kernel will most likely stay under v2 of the GNU GPL. Torvalds doesn't like the anti-DRM provisions of v3 and thinks that a) it's a security risk and b) it's trying to extend a license that currently only covers software, to the hardware it runs on. (Plus, he swears too much for PJ's taste.) |
