Post subject: dropped connection

I don't know if this will help others with a cable modem setup, but I wanted to pass it along just in case. I lost my connection the other day & thought 2 things:
1. My wife didn't send in the bill OR
2. My ISP had a crash of some sort
My wife sent the bill
no ISP crash SO
I tried the live-cd still no connection wich ruled out software.
I called my ISP & they said I had a strong signal, but no computer visible.
My modem has 3 connections: Power supply, ethernet, and the cable from the wall.
After talking to suport, I discovered that all I had to do was
unplug the ethernet cable & plug it back in.
This "wakes up" the card, so to speak. Sometimes solutions are that simple, so try that if it ever happens to you. My2cents worth. |
