On my laptop, I'm using Xgl + fglrx (on a Radeon Xpress 200M integrated chipset) + compiz. Xgl is very, very flaky. (AIGLX won't work, because ATI's driver doesn't support the "composite" extension, and the radeon driver doesn't seem to do 3D on this chipset.)
The Xgl package from this repo is dated 7-29-06.
The Xgl package from this repo (specifically, xserver-xgl) is dated 6-25-06. (It's flakier than the one above.)
Anyone know of newer Xgl debs? (Anyone know if work on Xgl's even continuing, now that it's being replaced by AIGLX?) |

XGL is a dead end without any kind of upgrade path and will probably never enter debian, because AIGLX uses a cleaner approach. Since the most common XGL "packages" come from very shady sources (no source code, no copyright, no anything), I'd have strongly advised against using them on any - and especially no remotely important - system and would recommend a clean re- install.

Does potential malware deinstall itself and all damage it has done? I doubt it. |
