| I downloaded this in PCLinuxOS, burned with K3B and checked the MD5 checksum. I use a bog standard eMachines R3350 but there's no picture no matter what I do. I tried every startup config I can think of, I can hear the startup sound but the monitor is just black. I can see the first lines, then comes something about X11 (?) and then it goes black. Any suggestions? |

first check, if you have a bad burn. you have to burn the iso with dao (disk at once) option and not to fast
(max 8 ).
if you dont have dao, do it again. otherwise add cheatcode 'testcd' to the grub bootline, and when the splash shows, hit esc to get verbose mode. if that runs thru all the way without errors, please post your hardware.

| Maybe it's an issue with your monitor (not correctly detected), just try the cheatcode 'vsync=60' on the GRUB command line (also in combination with pipers tip above) |

| Thanks for your suggestions but I think I give up. I burned a new one on DVD this time. Stops at X11... made sure about that dao. xmodule=vesa and vsync=60 just give me a lot of lines ending with "Kernel panic - not syncing: UFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown block(3,2)" and there it freezes. |

You had better burn it on CD instead of DVD. |

Nah it makes no difference. You can use cd or dvd. |
