          | Hallo, I thought I'd comment on Kanotix as I've been using it for the past several months. I have no complaints. Normally I have to ask lots of questions or search the forums for answers to problems but i haven't really had any problems, which is nice! What caught my eye to try out this distro is the look of the desktrop screen. Nice job!. I also was looking for something based on Debian, as I was using the Italian-based distro, Hymera Open, which they too did a great job on their desktop screen, but as of last September, they shut down. I ended up having to use the sources.list generator to get me a new repository list from Debian, as Hymera was also based on Debian using the Gnome desktop. Hymera was my first taste of Debian-like distro, though in the past did give Ubuntu a try.

I've been reading a few of the threads here about what is Kanotix, and I have to say i am glad it isn't based on untested or packages that could break the system. I made the mistake of choosing Sid in the Debian sources.list generator for Hymera, and ended up breaking that system.

I was also pleased to find KDE 3.5.10 desktop as a liveCD choice. I've been using KDE4 for a while now, but KDE 3.5.10 has more common sense built into it. Also, that a version for 64 bits was offered had been the final decision to give it a try. I like the boot image that Kano created, and I'm also getting used to how to manage Grub2.

A nice job overall, and I might get my husband to install it as he is still using an old version of KDE Mint 5 as he is used to the 3.5.10 desktop.
Thanks for the nice work done on this distro!
 Regards, Sadie
