          | I'm curious....Why didn't ALSA breaking after a dist upgrade make the news on the front page? I know libasound2-1.0.11-7 fixed it & a huge thank you goes out to slh for the fix & another huge thanks to all involved in making this fantastic distro, but I was always under the impression that if a dist-upgrade broke something it would be announced in the news.
Please don't take this as a complaint. I am very happy with Kanotix & I fully understand I get what I pay for.

I am just wondering why this was never posted in the news since it is preached in the forums & on irc to check here for problems before doing a D-U.

          | I may be wrong, but I perhaps that problem wasn't widespread enough??

          | alsa is fine here - i think a better warning would be that a dist upgrade removes kdelibs-bin (another kde transition) |

          | My ALSA hasn't been able to find my built in 6150/430 sound hardware in a while...I have no idea when it lost this but I haven't been able to figure out how to fix it. HDA Intel: probe of 0000:00:10.1 failed with error -12

From lspci, that seems to be the address of the audio interface:
0000:00:10.0 PCI bridge: nVidia Corporation MCP51 PCI Bridge (rev a2)
0000:00:10.1 0403: nVidia Corporation MCP51 High Definition Audio (rev a2)

cat /proc/asound/cards doesn't show the nVidia adapter either...

          | alsa didnt make the news, cause it was aminor bug. i posted the solution in both forums. jackiebrown,
kdelibs-bin being removed is no problem at all. everything is fine.
